Your Cookeville weekend: March 6–8

Good morning, Cookeville.

March is here — and if you've stepped outside lately, you know spring isn't quite ready to commit. But the calendar says we're close, and around here, that's enough to make the weekend feel a little more hopeful.

In today's Cookeville Scoop:

  • British rock at the PAC this Friday night

  • A new lounge just opened on Cedar Ave

  • Free Golden Eagles softball this weekend and storytime at the library

Let's get to it.

TO DOS

The British Revolution comes to the Cookeville Performing Arts Center this Friday, March 6 at 7:00 PM. Grab your tickets at the CPAC box office (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm; 931-528-1313) or online. The PAC is at 10 E Broad St downtown. A great Friday night out for the adults in the house.

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED — Saturday, March 7 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Foundation (127 N Oak Ave Suite C). This American Heart Association certification covers first aid, CPR, and AED use in 3.5 hours — practical, genuinely useful skills for parents, teachers, coaches, and anyone who spends time around kids or crowds. The listing was showing "almost full" when we checked, so see if seats remain on Eventbrite before assuming it's gone.

RESTAURANTS

Chill Billy's Lounge is now open at the corner of 1st and Cedar in the Historic Westside. Owners Toni and Bryon Mowrey have put together a craft cocktail bar with elevated bar food in a relaxed, open-kitchen setting — breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the kind of vibe that's casual without being careless. Find them at 102 N Cedar Ave or give them a call at 931-651-1068.

If you've got weekend plans that involve a drink, here's your cheat sheet. Irrationale Kitchen+Taps runs happy hour daily from 2–4 PM and again from 8 PM to close — $3 drafts, $6 well, $5 house wine, and half-price apps. The Putnam Room does 2-for-1 on small plates, beer, wine, and cocktails Monday–Friday 3–5 PM, plus a late-night happy hour on Saturdays from 8–10 PM. And Father Tom's Pub keeps it simple: every day, 3–6 PM and during the last hour of service.

HAPPENINGS

Here's what's free and fun this weekend:

TTU Softball vs. SIUE (Home Series) — the Golden Eagles open OVC conference play at home this weekend. Three games: a doubleheader Friday, March 6 at 1:00 PM at Tech Softball Field, then a single game Saturday, March 7 at 9:00 AM. Admission is free for the public — no tickets needed. The series was moved up a day due to weather concerns, so check ttusports.com for any updates before you go.

Storytime with Ariel & Friends at the Putnam County Library — Friday, March 6 at 3:30 PM. Cast members from the upcoming PAJCH production of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. are stopping by for a special storytime — a fun sneak peek for kids before the full show opens at CPAC on March 19. Free. No registration needed, just show up.

Live Music: Ziona Riley, Spencer Sult & Taylor Daukas at West Side Grocery — Friday, March 6. Three local artists take the stage at the Westside market and music spot. Check West Side Grocery on Instagram (@westsidegrocerytn) for the start time — likely free or no cover.

Senior Bingo through Cookeville Leisure Services — Thursday, March 5. Forty-five minutes of bingo with free popcorn and prizes. Contact Leisure Services at 931-520-4386 for time and location details. Free.
