Monday, May 4. Short week.
The Pickle Festival wrapped up its final day yesterday out at the Putnam County Fairgrounds — if you made it Sunday, good call. Cinco de Mayo lands on Taco Tuesday tomorrow. And Wednesday night, the Bryan Symphony brings their biggest fundraiser of the year to Father Tom's Pub.
In today's Cookeville Scoop:
Beers for Brahms is Wednesday at Father Tom's, 5 PM — 7 performers, a $10,000 donation match, and a silent auction running all night
Drake's has all-day Cinco de Mayo specials tomorrow: $3 Modelo Drafts, $6 margaritas, $6 Chips & Queso
The Farmers Market is open every day at 201 Mahler Ave if you want a reason to get outside
Let's get to it.

BEERS FOR BRAHMS 2026
The Bryan Symphony Orchestra has been doing this for years, and the format is smart: instead of a formal gala, they take over Father Tom's Pub for a night of live music, cold drinks, and a pretty good reason to open your wallet.
Beers for Brahms is this Wednesday, May 6, from 5 to 8:30 PM at Father Tom's Pub, 32 N Cedar Ave. Free to walk in. Seven performers make up the evening: David Klein, Raniece, Jade Arrow, Sugar Lime Blue, Zachary Harper, Billy T. Scrapper, and BSO member Dan Allcott. That's a real range of styles for a Wednesday night at a local bar, and the variety is part of what makes this event work year after year.
The fundraising side has a strong hook. Every dollar you donate through the end of the night gets matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000 total, through a challenge set up by an anonymous donor and Dr. Stephen and Mrs. Jeanette Goryl. An online silent auction also runs from before the doors open through the end of the event. You can browse items and place bids ahead of time, and remote participation is open if Wednesday evening doesn't work for your schedule.
Proceeds go toward BSO performances, educational outreach, and regional collaborations. The Bryan Symphony has been a steady part of Cookeville's calendar for a long time, and Beers for Brahms is the event that keeps it going.
A Wednesday night with seven live acts, a beer in hand, and your donations going twice as far is worth showing up for.
Father Tom's Pub, 32 N Cedar Ave. Free entry. Donations welcomed and matched. More information and auction preview at bryansymphony.org.
